Artyom Sidorkin, a 28 year old man from Russia, came to a hospital because he had a strong pain in his chest and was coughing blood. What was first suspected to be a cancer, it turned out to be a 5cm fir tree.
Tree found in patien´s lung
While performing the biopsy on patient´s lung, doctors where amazed to see a tree growing in the cut. One of the doctors, Vladimir Kamashev, said: “I blinked three times, and thought I was seeing things. Then I called the assistant to have a look.”
Mr Sidorkin was relieved to hear that coughing blood was not caused by any disease. He said: “It was the needles poking the capillaries. It really hurt a lot. But I never felt like I had an alien object inside of me.”
Doctors believe that the patient might have inhaled a small bud, which then started to grow inside his body. It has now been removed and a piece of lung with the little fir tree has been preserved for further study.
